Stanford Achievement Tests
End of Grade Tests - Asheboro Area Only

Teresa Wilson is now taking reservations for the tests. For those of you who are new to homeschooling, here is a description of what she offers.

Teresa is a veteran homeschool mother in the county who has an inventory of older Stanford Achievement Tests that she loans out each year to other homeschoolers in the County. She has a master copy of each grade test. She accepts calls to reserve the test for the week you choose.

You will pick up the test on a Friday at 1:00pm and need to return it the following Friday BY 12:00 noon. (this is important because others will be waiting to pick up the test you are returning!)

During the time that you have the test, you will make your own copy of the answer sheets from the master.

You can administer the test to your child using the instructions that are with it.

You will also need to grade the tests yourself using the instructions and answer keys given. It is very self-explanatory and is legal.

Per Rod Helder from NCDNPE, these tests are certainly fine for us to use and within the NC Guidelines for testing. They are older tests, from the early 1980's, but are just as good as the up to date versions and very comparable. Mr. Helder does suggest that if you plan to place your child back in a public school, you may want to consider having them tested elsewhere to defer any later issues. Or if your student is in 9th grade or above you may want to begin thinking of another alternative because some colleges may prefer this. This is only a suggestion and not a requirement. These tests are fully within the NC State Law requirements.

Teresa asks us to do two things:

1) Please wait until after 12 Noon to call her as she is trying to homeschool in the mornings and

2) If you do not reach her, please try her back instead of leaving a message because she can not return many of the calls due to them being long distance. Her number is: Teresa Wilson, 857-0079.

Directions of where to Pick up the tests:

From the corner of Hwy. 64 and Hwy 42S. (on the corner at Blockbuster). Take Hwy 42, go exactly 3.5 miles and the drive is on the left. It will be the drive just before Bethel Church. It is a brick house that sits off the road and the number is #2769. The tests will usually be in a bag, hung up outside on the porch with the grade labeled on the outside. If you get to Bethel Church, you have gone too far.

TESTING Runs from March -June After that you will not be able to check out the test until next March. May is a very business month so you will want to schedule early.

Stanford Achievement Tests

End of Grade Self Testing

For those of you who would like to borrow the Stanford Achievement Tests or are new to homeschooling, here is how our system works:
Mom's Link via Lynn Richardson will loan the tests out from
March-June each school Year.
Lynn will reserve the test for the grade(s) that you need and the week you would like to use it.

Pick-up is on Friday's at 1:00 pm and
Return by the following Friday's by 1:00 pm

(this is important because others will be waiting to pick up the test you are returning!)

You will need to make your own copies of the original answer forms, so as not to write on the original answer forms. You administer the test to your student and grade the results.  There is also a battery to score other aspects of the test if you so desire.  The tests are self-explanatory on how to use them and they are acceptable to the NCDNPE.

PLEASE be careful with the originals. These tests were a real labor of love from those of us that copied the originals last year and punched a zillion holes individually on the answer sheets!!
They are the only copies we have to use and a lot of us rely on them!

Directions to pick-up test: call Lynn to schedule the week you would like to borrow the tests and which grades you need.  Pick-up your tests between 1-2pm of Friday at the Archdale Recreation Center.  Then the following Friday, return the original tests to Lynn between 12:30pm and 1pm at the
Archdale Recreation Center     phone#431-1117
214 Park Drive, Archdale, NC 27263.

Call Lynn 336-906-9430  it is best to call or email lynnlouise50@yahoo.com

Mom's Link was able to copy these test from the original Stanford Achievement Tests being kept by the Asheboro Homeschool Group.  It was quite a feat to say the least and...the cost was $385.00 total for notebooks, cover sheets , etc.
This year Mom's Link is charging $10.00/family for borrowing the tests.
